The 265/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac are used in work trucks, and plow trucks are especially popular in the former. Everybody wears these things because they are quite impressive both off-road and on-road.
You can see they have those big chunky blocks of the tread on the side and then in the middle, it’s a little closer and it’s a smaller block of the tread. Now, the Ridge Grappler itself is actually built on an all-terrain platform, whereas you have other ultra or hybrid tires, it is built on the mud tire platform, so the 265/70R17 Nitto Ridge Grappler is kind of giving you the best of both worlds between that mud and the all-terrain.
You could get good on road performance, they’re not too loud. But then if you want to take this thing off road on the weekends, you can definitely do that.

But there’s still a large enough that if you take them off road in any kind of low traction environment, they still do just fine because there’s plenty of separation there.

First of all, you may notice in this model that the 265/70r17 Ford Falken Wildpeak A/T3 have this sort of angled
side biter that looks somewhat like a saw blade. It’s sort of directional how it’s angled up, but you do have that a little bit of extra traction there with those side biters.
They do have those cooling fins along this inner bead of the tire there, which always makes people kind of question why are they there? If you are running low air pressure, for example, then Falken put these on there to help dissipate the heat, but you don’t see that on any other tire out there.
The other thing is that those shoulder blocks are designed a little bit different. They still have the larger shoulder blocks on the outer edge of the tire and then the scattered or staggered inner tread blocks along the center of the tire to help cut down on that road noise.
