Top #1 All Terrain: Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S – 235/70r17
The 235/70R16 Cooper Tires Discoverer AT3 offers durable tread technology. The tires design is intended for hauling heavy loads with less where these tires are built to withstand ongoing assaults from dirt and gravel and are available in larger sizes.
The unique tire tread offers a rugged, biting edge on the shoulder of the tire. Cooper Tires also emphasizes 10 feet shorter stopping distances on wet roads. This tire design offers great dry performance, wet performance; tread water quality handling, off-road capability and dirt, mud, sand, rock or gravel ranked well.
The AT3 Tire has four key design features, Whisper Groups technology: the whisper groove provides a sound barrier that reduces road noise. Stone ejector ledges: ledges easily eject stones and gravel, protecting the tire from stones. Drilling into carcass and maintaining a clean tread for enhanced road traction.
Rugged traction shoulders: the rugged traction shoulders provide increased off-road traction for bolder crawling and mud handling, as well as additional resistance to abrasions and punctures.
Top #2 All Terrain: Nokian Rotiiva AT – 235/70r17
The 235/70r17 Nokian Rotiiva AT has been engineered to provide outstanding all-weather traction. The tire formula and 3D siping detail in the tread work together to increase road holding in dry, wet, and cold conditions.
The broad tread grooves actively remove water and slush from beneath the tire’s footprint. This enhances traction in wet weather and effectively decreases hydroplaning. The long-lasting tire formula maintains its flexibility in all weather conditions, which, along with the hydroplaning resistance, ensures a pleasant driving experience all year.
The variant is also capable of all-terrain road grip. The larger staggered tread components and broader grooves improve grip on soft, loose, and uneven terrain surfaces, making for a safer drive. Because the tread elements can maintain a firm hold on all road and terrain surfaces, the model is more versatile in its application. In addition, rock ejectors are inserted in the tread grooves to help dislodge rocks from between the tread components. This avoids stone retention, which can damage the tire’s casing and structure.
Driving Safety Indicators and a stronger sidewall compound are included in the tire. Driving Safety Indicators, or DSI for short, are numbers on the tire’s center rib that reflect the percentage of tread wear. They deteriorate with tread wear and reflect in percentages how much tread life remains on the tire.
The sidewall component contains aramid fiber, which prevents punctures and damage to the tire. It also increases tire durability by avoiding deformation under driving pressure, resulting in a safer driving experience.
The Rotiiva AT Plus is simple to operate. The tread design includes a middle rib that, when combined with the unique stabilizers, stiffens the tread. They significantly improve steering responsiveness and driving stability. As a result, the steering becomes more responsive to the driver’s orders, while the tire’s structure is protected from the driving pressure that affects the tire. As a result, the vehicle performs better in all weather conditions and on all terrain surfaces.

We also note that the Kumho is one among the softest driving tires. Converting a singular hit into a protracted event steering response from the Crugen HT51 could be a unique experience, with an initially stiff response it’ll never seem to extend or decrease with steering effort.
In wet tests, the upper hitting performance was shown to be adequate for many tasks. This trend continued with objective tests that yielded competitive braking results.
The Crugen HT51 achieved competitive side-pull scores, together with stopping distances. The Kumho Crugen HT51 proved to be fully capable of emergency or avoidance braking maneuvers on the road.
Top #3 Highway: General Grabber HTS60 – 235/70r17

Braking, turning, and acceleration are all improved by the Stabilink system of connecting bars. The response grooves, which provide directional assistance during steering and water evacuation, improve wet weather traction and hydroplaning resistance.
Top #4 Highway: Yokohama Geolandar H/T G056 – 235/70r17
The 235/70R17 Yokohama Geolandar H/T G056 was designed for comfortable performance on the road, providing a smooth and quiet ride with the traction needed for inclement weather, including light snow on the road.
The Geolandar H/T G056 will feel like the sporty personality of a test group. Steering is tense in the center with adequate response to inputs. However, although the initial impacts may be firm, they were also well controlled. It has helped the tire maintain a feeling of stability, even on rough roads.
You will notice that the tire produced slight nuances and rough road surfaces, which disappeared on smoother pavement. Over the course of wet testing, Yokohama struggled to find traction in wet conditions to a greater degree. Once the wet adhesion threshold was exceeded, the breakdown was abrupt and difficult to mitigate.
The Yokohama achieved the shortest stopping distance of 50 to zero in a closed group field on a track. You will enjoy the balance and handling of the Geolandar H/T G056, indicating that it is fully capable of performing emergency braking or street avoidance maneuvers.
Top #5 Highway: Michelin Defender LTX M/S – 235/70r17

The sidewall always remains black like most Michelin ones due to the special compound that comes out during the warm-up and cool-down cycle.
You will always have the same traction in wet and snowy weather now, every block in an LTX, every block has zigzag grooves, and so do these zigzag grooves. That’s what helps you on light snow, especially hard, compact light snow. So even though this is a road tread tire, even if it’s on a light trail it really does a good job.
However, if you want to drive through more difficult terrain, you can use them without any problem. It doesn’t look very aggressive, but it’s not meant to do that.
