Top #1 All Terrain: Continental TerrainContact A/T – 255/70r18
The 255/70R18 Continental Terraincontact A/T has a slightly more aggressive look, so you will notice that it has improved in appearance. You will notice that they are smooth and extremely quiet, you can relax while driving on the highway even at high speeds.
In wet terrain you will not have major problems, since you will feel great security in your traction. Also, if you like snow, you can ride confidently on that type of terrain due to its good grip and terrain.
Although it is an excellent and quiet tire for driving on the highway, you will have no problem using it for off-road tours. The depth of the tread will do a great job of assessing copious mud as long as you keep them spinning at a fast speed. The same goes for snow, especially wet and heavy material, the tires will stay clean and therefore safe to drive on practically any type of terrain.
Top #2 All Terrain: Falken Wildpeak A/T3W – 255/70r18
First of all, you may notice in this model that the 255/70R18 Falken Wildpeak A/T3W have this sort of angled side biter that looks somewhat like a saw blade. It’s sort of directional how it’s angled up, but you do have that a little bit of extra traction there with those side biters.
They do have those cooling fins along this inner bead of the tire there, which always makes people kind of question why are they there? If you are running low air pressure, for example, then Falken put these on there to help dissipate the heat, but you don’t see that on any other tire out there.
The other thing is that those shoulder blocks are designed a little bit different. They still have the larger shoulder blocks on the outer edge of the tire and then the scattered or staggered inner tread blocks along the center of the tire to help cut down on that road noise.
Top #3 All Terrain: Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S – 255/70r18
The 255/70R18 Cooper Tires Discoverer AT3 offers durable tread technology. The tires design is intended for hauling heavy loads with less where these tires are built to withstand ongoing assaults from dirt and gravel and are available in larger sizes.
The unique tire tread offers a rugged, biting edge on the shoulder of the tire. Cooper Tires also emphasizes 10 feet shorter stopping distances on wet roads. This tire design offers great dry performance, wet performance; tread water quality handling, off-road capability and dirt, mud, sand, rock or gravel ranked well.
The AT3 Tire has four key design features, Whisper Groups technology: the whisper groove provides a sound barrier that reduces road noise. Stone ejector ledges: ledges easily eject stones and gravel, protecting the tire from stones. Drilling into carcass and maintaining a clean tread for enhanced road traction.
Rugged traction shoulders: the rugged traction shoulders provide increased off-road traction for bolder crawling and mud handling, as well as additional resistance to abrasions and punctures.
Top #4 All Terrain: Nokian Rotiiva AT – 255/70r18
The 255/70r18 Nokian Rotiiva AT tire has been engineered to provide outstanding all-weather traction. The tire formula and 3D siping detail in the tread work together to increase road holding in dry, wet, and cold conditions.
The broad tread grooves actively remove water and slush from beneath the tire’s footprint. This enhances traction in wet weather and effectively decreases hydroplaning. The long-lasting tire formula maintains its flexibility in all weather conditions, which, along with the hydroplaning resistance, ensures a pleasant driving experience all year.
The variant is also capable of all-terrain road grip. The larger staggered tread components and broader grooves improve grip on soft, loose, and uneven terrain surfaces, making for a safer drive. Because the tread elements can maintain a firm hold on all road and terrain surfaces, the model is more versatile in its application.
In addition, rock ejectors are inserted in the tread grooves to help dislodge rocks from between the tread components. This avoids stone retention, which can damage the tire’s casing and structure.
Driving Safety Indicators and a stronger sidewall compound are included in the tire. Driving Safety Indicators, or DSI for short, are numbers on the tire’s center rib that reflect the percentage of tread wear. They deteriorate with tread wear and reflect in percentages how much tread life remains on the tire.
The sidewall component contains aramid fiber, which prevents punctures and damage to the tire. It also increases tire durability by avoiding deformation under driving pressure, resulting in a safer driving experience.
The Rotiiva AT Plus is simple to operate. The tread design includes a middle rib that, when combined with the unique stabilizers, stiffens the tread. They significantly improve steering responsiveness and driving stability. As a result, the steering becomes more responsive to the driver’s orders, while the tire’s structure is protected from the driving pressure that affects the tire. As a result, the vehicle performs better in all weather conditions and on all terrain surfaces.
Top #5 All Terrain: Yokohama Geolandar AT G015 – 255/70r18
The 255/70R18 Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 was developed for drivers looking for a strong and durable tire that is capable of withstanding off-road work, but also provides comfort on the road, long tread life and a light traction in the snow able to win the symbol of the three mountain snowflakes.
The Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015’s off-road pattern was designed with the focus on varying the pitch of the tread block to improve driver comfort by reducing noise. You will be impressed with how quiet the tire is on the road when a small amount of soil is present. Overall, the sound quality is closer to what you would expect from a road tread tire, not something from the off-road and off-road all-terrain category.
Similarly, the steering feel would be linear and predictable, leading the truck to a more satisfying experience in wet testing. All-wheel drive is a step above the rest of the tires, and acceleration, braking and cornering ability is balanced and predictable. In the end, this tire obtained the highest score and led the test in all objective measurements.

To improve snow performance, Firestone has incorporated unique cross grooves and zigzag sipes all around the tire. Drivers will notice two steel belts on the inner of the tire that are strengthened with nylon for improved durability and strength over the speed range.
